All democratic countries have now abolished the death penalty. Even Turkey which is not known like a model of a democratic regime recently did. The United States of America, among countries like the Chinese "People's Republic", Iran and Saudi Arabia, execute dozens of people each year, including minors.
George W. Bush was elected with having less votes than Al Gore. Moreover, the names of thousands of people, especially black people who are known to mainly vote for the democrat party, were crossed off the electoral list in Florida. These people were thus arbitrarily not allowed to vote in this state.
On the 5th of March 2003 in the state of New York, the police arrested a man in a department store. The crime of this man was to wear a t-shirt saying "Give peace a chance" and "Peace on earth".

Do you still think USA are a democratic country ?

USA still refuse to ratify the statutes of the International Penal Court of La Haye which is in charge to prosecute offenses such as crimes against humanity and war crimes.
USA violated basic human rights in the way they treated prisonners at the Guantanamo base.
USA still refuse to sign the Kyoto Treaty which engage industrial countries to reduce their emissions of glasshouse-effect gases.
USA don't care about international rights since they are going to attack Iraq against the will of the United Nations.

Do you still wonder why USA are hated ?

We french haven't forgotten the sacrifice of thousands of american soldiers to free our Old Europe from a guy that was much worse than Saddam Hussein. By the way, those of the american people complaining about it should revise the US history : What country helped you to win your independance against Great Britain in the XVIIIth century ? What country gave you the Statue of Liberty as a gift ?
But this war was not planned to defend democracy in the Middle East. The only thing your government and many americans are interested in is to make profit. This war stinks oil and your government planned it just to control the wide oil fields in this area. Do the USA care that much for North Corea who scoff at the whole world with their nuclear bomb program ?

So what are you going to do about it ?

I'm happy to see that people  demonstrates to stop this war all around the world. And also in the USA. All this said, maybe I have to say that I don't hate the whole american (and a fortiori  the british) people. Some of you are assholes, some of you are real good men and women : Billy Corgan (for his music), Susan Sarrandon, Dustin Hoffman, Martin Sheen,Sean Penn ..., and mostly Michael Moore ! I wish there was more guys like Michael Moore in your country.
